GRENADA

Licensed Stamp Vendors

"At the last meeting on 27th October, 1956, I shewed a circular letter from Grenada bearing a ½d stamp, SG.48, from a Mr. A. O. SMITH of St. Georges, to Messrs. Burger & Co., Nassau St., Nr. Maiden Lane, NEW YORK. The text read as follows:-

'I am prepared to execute orders accompanied by remittances for unused Postage and Revenue Stamps, Postcards, Wrappers, etc., I will allow a discount of ½% on all orders, but the cost of sending the stamps must be borne by you.

I am able to supply stamps cheaper than you can obtain them from the Post Office here, for being a Licensed Stamp Vendor I am allowed a small discount in which I will allow you to participate. As to my standing and as a guarantee of good faith, you may refer to the Postmaster of this Colony.

If you will entrust me with your orders, which shall always receive prompt attention. I shall keep you informed of all Postal charges (changes?). A new Half-penny Postage and Revenue Stamp was issued on 1st August.'

I shall be very interested to hear if any other Colony in the B.W.I. had Licensed Stamp Vendors that offered stamps at a discount."
