Various Queries

"I shall be very grateful if any members can furnish information on any of the following points:

a. The 'Lady McLeod' stamps: Are any copies known dated earlier than 24th April 1847 and later than January 1848? Does there exist any print or engraving of the steamer 'Lady McLeod' ? Are the whereabouts known of a once sealed letter sheet dated 11th April 1947 ?

b. Is any reference available (e.g. from the Trinidad Royal Gazette, official correspondence etc.) which throws light on the circumstances which lead up to the new issues of 1883?

c. In order that a table can be prepared to show the relative scarcity of town and village date stamps information is desired about any copies bearing the following date stamps prior to 1913.

d. Do any plate varieties exist on the surface printed issues of 1883-1909.?

e. Later Trinidad issues: The writer would be glad to inspect or hear about any examples of the following:

i S.G.45, 51, 55a, 96a and 103 with certificate.

ii S.G.56 and 113 not necessarily with certificate. In the latter instance used copies only with date of use.

iii Blocks or connected pieces for plating purposes of the first type 6d. value e.g. S.G.95/6, 104/5 etc.

iv Bisects and 'To Late's' on entire.

v Proof material of the 1883-1909 issues and SPECIMEN stamps of S.G.111, 116 and 139a. Also D4 (small serifed letters; 11¼mm long) and Dl-9 inclusive) (block letters; 14½mm long).'
